The latest addition to the HE-VA cultivation range is the Top Strigle straw harrow, designed to help farmers spread straw evenly across the field to improve drilling performance and slug control, as well as battle grassweeds.
Working directly behind the combine, it comprises five rows of heavy-duty harrow tines to spread trash and create a micro-tilth to prompt a flush of volunteers and grass weeds. It also disturbs slug eggs, exposing them to sunlight and destroying the next wave of pests.
The company recommends running the machine at a slight angle to the combine’s direction of travel, evenly spreading crop residues evenly across the full field. Hydraulic angle adjustment means that the aggressiveness of the tines can be changed on the move to suit residue amounts and field conditions.
Available in working widths from 3m up to 10m, the Top Strigle can operate at speeds between 15kph and 25kph, according to the company, with a design that incorporates a heavy-duty central ladder frame with dual hinge points for low wear.
It’s also available with a Stocks seeding unit so that cover crops can be established in a single pass. Prices start from £11,227.
