Brocks Wheel & Tyre (BWT) has announced a new hire scheme for agricultural wheel leasing.
The service will enable farmers and contractors to pay only for the time they use the wheels. According to the company, it will provide greater flexibility for operators to select the correct rims for the task, while eliminating the need for storage.
The service has already been used by A L Lee Farming Company, which hired in a set of wider tyres to travel over the land during spring drilling. A spokesman for the business said: “The cost of purchasing a set of wheels just for springtime wouldn’t have been worth it for us, because the window is so short and we can soon get the crops into the ground, so it wouldn’t pay off to have the big wheels all the time, because for what we need it for, hiring is the cheapest option.”
They also highlighted the convenience of the hire solution: “So these are on hire for 6 weeks, so we will do the sugar beet as well as other jobs such as rolling and bits of drilling whilst we have them on hire. The hire solution is beneficial to us because we agreed on how long to have them for, and once we were finished with those tyres we could just hand them back and if we had any issues, they would sort them out.”
