A new soil conditioner is about to launch in the UK.
According to SoilPoint, Soil Booster can boost yields by up to 30%, and repair damaged topsoil without having to revert to environmentally damaging nitrogen fertilisers. A natural product, approved by the UK Soil Association, Soil Booster is certified for use in organic and conventional farming.
The company also claims it is proven to boost nutrition levels, increase water retention, sequester carbon and reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) from current farming practices.
SoilPoint was founded in the USA by a group of farmers, food industry executives and soil technology experts to restore depleted soils using a natural humic-based process. The company has run soil trials globally to prove the efficacy of its Soil Booster product.
Spearheading the UK and European drive will be Alan Forrester. He has been appointed as chief executive officer (CEO).
For the past seven years, Alan has been President of the UK Fresh Produce Consortium (FPC), the industry body for fresh produce and related sectors. He recently received the prestigious Fresh Produce Lifetime Achievement Award.
