Apollo Tyres has appointed Guido Boerkamp as the new Director of its Off-Highway Tyres (OHT) division; he succeeds Ruud Nijland who is retiring after over a decade at the company in this position.
Mr Boerkamp brings 27 years of OHT experience, having first joined the company (then known as Vredestein) in 1995 as a Product Specialist for agricultural and industrial tyres. He subsequently worked as Product Manager, Business Development Manager and Head of Product Group, before leading Apollo Tyres’ European OHT R&D division.
In his new position he will oversee the sales and marketing of Apollo Tyres’ growing range of Vredestein- and Apollo-branded agricultural and industrial construction products, managing further growth across Europe. He will report directly to Yves Pouliquen, head of Sales and Marketing Europe at Apollo Tyres.
A great honour
“I’ve spent my entire career within this business – with Vredestein before its acquisition, and since then with Apollo Tyres – and have experienced first-hand its evolution as the needs of the agricultural and industrial construction sectors have changed across Europe,” commented Mr Boerkamp. “It is a great honour for me to now take the next step, leading the OHT business into a new era and with responsibility for a growing product portfolio. I want to thank Ruud for laying the foundations during his impressive tenure at the company.”
Mr Rivallant adds: “Guido is ideally equipped to head up our OHT division. He has built an unrivalled level of knowledge and expertise that will help us become even more effective in the European market, as we deliver on our commitment to provide customers with class-leading tyres, manufactured to the highest standards.
“I want to thank Ruud for his outstanding contribution to Apollo Tyres, and the Vredestein and Apollo product brands,” added Rivallant. “He will be greatly missed by the team, who wish him all the best in his retirement.”
Mr Nijland adds: “It has been an honour to be a part of this organisation for such a significant part of my career, working alongside some truly special people and delivering industry-defining products. I wish Guido the best of luck in his new role and look forward to seeing what lies ahead for Apollo Tyres.”
