Claydon add small seed applicator to Opti-Till range

Claydon Farm Machinery will use Lamma to showcase a new addition to its crop establishment range.

NutriSeeder will be available in two versions, both to be fitted on the company’s 7.5m straw harrow. A single-hopper, 200-litre variant comes with a single metering mechanism, while the dual-hopper version has dual metering for two types of seed to be applied at the same time, or mixed in the distribution head.

“The NutriSeeder has been designed to allow farmers to establish cover crops quickly, accurately, reliably and economically,” says Claydon’s David Furber.

“It has been proven on the Claydon family’s own arable farm and will be a popular addition to our range given the increasing take up of Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) schemes and cover crops.”

Both models feature a hydraulic fan and electronic control with forward speed rate adjustment. On the headlands, the machine is stopped and started via a hydraulic cylinder, with best practice dictating that the harrow be left on the ground to avoid spreading weed seeds.

Eight spreader plates are fitted as standard, designed to distribute seed ahead of the harrow tines.

A choice of metering wheels enables outputs of up to 30kg/ha for wheat, 15kg/ha for grass seed and 25kg/ha for cover crop mixes, at a forward speed of 15kph.
