Corteva’s to pilot easyconnect cap with Pixxaro herbicide

Corteva has redesigned its packaging for broadleaf herbicide Pixxaro to include an easyconnect cap. Other changes are a centred neck to make pouring easier while the clear material enables operators to see the contents during rinsing. According to Corteva the new lightweight bottle reduces plastic use by 12%

The easyconnect cap is being piloted with the product. When used with a sprayer-integrated or standalone coupler, it reportedly creates a closed transfer system to reduce exposure and spill risks

If a coupler is not being used, operators can simply unscrew the cap and empty the bottle conventionally.

Alister McRobbie, category manager for cereal herbicides, said: “We’re introducing a range of changes to our Pixxaro bottles to improve the safety and handling of products, and to be more environmentally sustainable.

“Standardising the shape of the bottle regardless of its size (5l, 3l or 2l) helps users to quickly identify it in the chemical store, and the clear, lighter packaging makes it easier to handle.

“We’ve removed the induction seal to make the whole pack recyclable, and the redesigned handles are more ergonomic and comfortable to use when pouring.

“The integration of the easyconnect system is also a significant step forward.”

Corteva’s EU product stewardship leader, Louise Brinkworth, added: “It’s encouraging to see progress on the commitment to implement easyconnect caps onto our products, reflecting our dedication and determination and marking a step forward to making closed transfer systems available to users across Europe.”

The company is part of a cross-industry group working to bring the easyconnect cap to market.
