Just 495 tractors were registered in August, according to the Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA).
August is typically a quiet month with farmers focusing on harvest. However, the decline has been noticeably bigger this year, with the figure being 30.7% lower than the same month in 2023. It is two-thirds below the five-year average for the month.
It brings the 2024 total up to 7,325 machines, 14.7% lower than the same period in 2023, and the lowest for four years.
