National potato supplier Branston has appointed a new managing director to guide the business as it continues to go from strength to strength. Jim Windle, former financial director at Branston, has been promoted to the role, with James Truscott as group managing director for the next six months to ensure a smooth transition during a busy period of growth ahead.
Having joined Branston in 2015 as its financial director, Mr Windle has been acting as deputy managing director for some time and brings 20 years of professional experience to his new role – almost eight of which have been spent at Branston.
Mr Windle said: “Stepping into the role of managing director is something that has been planned for a while with our shareholder board and the executive team. I am thrilled and proud to be taking the Branston business forward and cannot wait to get started. We have an exciting plan and a strong team to deliver it.”
Innovative factory
The supplier is currently investing in an innovative factory to extract the valuable protein fraction from outgrade potatoes, with B-hive Innovations and Root Extracts Ltd, two of its sister companies focused on developing agritech capabilities. This is one of a number of plans it has in the pipeline as part of the impressive growth trajectory set out for the next five years.
Mr Windle added: “We are constantly looking at new ways we can adapt and ensure our entire supply chain from field to shelf edge is managed in a sustainable and responsible way.
