Elsoms Seeds, the UK’s leading independent plant breeder and seed supplier, is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Tokelove as Diverse Crop Manager. Elsoms is the exclusive distributor for Bejo Zaden in the UK, with a diverse crop portfolio that currently includes varieties of Celery, Celeriac, Radicchio, Asparagus, Radish and Fennel. Lisa’s key role will be to work closely with breeders at Bejo Zaden to develop and expand Elsoms’ diverse and salad crop portfolio through the identification of exciting new varieties for UK growers. Lisa will also take a lead in delivering exemplary service and unrivalled technical support as the company expands its position in the diverse market.
Robin Wood, Managing Director at Elsoms Seeds said “Lisa’s appointment reflects Elsoms’ commitment to a stronger presence in the diverse market and is part of the company’s wider strategy for growth. We’re delighted to welcome her to the team and to have the benefit of her considerable experience in the vegetable growing industry. It’s an exciting time for Elsoms as we invest in innovative new products and services to meet the evolving demands of our customers. Our core values though are always technical expertise and first class customer service and I’m confident Lisa has much to offer in both of these critical areas.”
Lisa brings extensive experience of the fresh produce industry, particularly the salad sector, to the Elsoms team. She has a highly relevant background in research and development and has spent the last 18 years working at G’s (formerly Shropshire’s), one of the UK’s leading growers of fine quality salads and vegetables.
Elsoms Seeds works closely with Bejo Zaden to ensure the highest standards of technical support for Bejo’s comprehensive vegetable seed portfolio. Bejo Zaden, already a global leader in vegetable breeding, has also recently extended their range through the acquisition of Agrisemen. This has led to the introduction of a strong range of lettuce varieties including species of Butterhead, Batavia, Oakleaf, Iceberg, Lollo Rosso and Babyleaf. Bejo’s globally recognised strength in genetics, innovative vegetable breeding and extensive crop knowledge is expected to further broaden this lettuce assortment and to bring on new diverse species at a fast pace in the coming years.
