Michael Muncey has taken over as head of Bayer’s Crop Science division in the UK from
outgoing managing director, Andrew Orme.
Having started in sales in the UK, Michael spent a number of years in Lyon, France with
responsibility for Crop Science activities in the Ukraine and Russia, after a successful stint as
Bayer Head of Country for Hungary.
“This is a very exciting time to be returning to the UK,” Michael says. “Over the past 14 years
Bayer has built an industry-leading business thanks to our exceptional and dedicated team and
a successful pipeline of agchem products, such as herbicides Liberator and Atlantis, cereals seed
treatment Redigo Deter and the prothiconazole-based fungicide range.
“My job is to build on that success and continue to make sure growers have access to new
innovations in agchem as well as exciting new advances through new breeding techniques,
biopesticides and digital technologies.
“But with the uncertainty over Brexit and the challenging regulatory environment we face that
will require collaboration across the industry with a range of stakeholders, and I look forward to
working with them to make sure growers will continue to produce the high quality, affordable
food that we are so thankful for.”
