Dow AgroSciences has announced that John Humphreys is to become the company’s new UK and Ireland managing director.
Born into an arable farming family in north-west England, John has over 30 years’ experience in the industry.
He gained sales experience with Unilever before joining ICI Plant Protection covering agronomy, distribution and research and development role. He has also worked at BASF and joined Dow AgroSciences in 2011.
John steps up from his position of national sales manager on 1 April.
He said: “We are entering a really exciting period for Dow AgroSciences in the UK and Ireland with the launch of new products which deliver breakthrough chemistry to agriculture.
“The company has a rich history of innovation and I am very proud to be taking this role at a time when growers will be seeing the benefit that our research and development can have on their businesses.
“The recent launch of our cereals herbicide Pixxaro EC, which is the first product to contain the brand new Arylex Active molecule, was just the latest part of our ongoing commitment to launch a new product every year. There is more to come.
“A key part of my role will be ensuring a smooth transition when Dow AgroSciences merges with Du Pont. I want to see us make the most of the opportunities that this merger will bring us and our customers.”
John replaces Toni McEwan who is moving to Dow AgroSciences’ headquarters in Indianapolis to take the role of North American project leader for the company’s crop protection business.
Toni has been with the company in the UK for four years.
