In a quest to attract, develop and engage the next generation of farmers, Farmcare – the UK’s leading rural and agricultural business – has launched its 2017 Graduate Scheme, offering successful candidates a bespoke training scheme.
Unlike other graduate programmes within the agricultural sector, Farmcare’s forward thinking initiative will offer new recruits a truly unique ‘build-your-own’ placement, allowing each person to shape their own experience. This move will engage the brightest and best graduates, with Farmcare offering a number of placements to impressive entrants, allowing their interests and specialities to influence the areas of the business they work in and the crop they want to focus on during the year – whether that’s combinable, potato production, fruit or vegetable farming.
As well as working across a number of its 12 nationwide estates, Farmcare’s successful graduates will have the opportunity to experience a placement outside of the business, including a skill-swap scheme with likeminded businesses, such as those involved in Farmcare’s supply chain and services suppliers, with other more international opportunities being available. This type of opportunity represents Farmcare’s ceaseless drive to develop talent by learning from outside – as well as inside – the business, cross pollinating ideas and innovation.
Opportunities on the graduate scheme stretch well beyond the field: with environmental standards firmly at the centre of Farmcare’s long-term strategy, the chosen trainees will also gain hands-on experience on what it takes to become responsible custodians of the land they are working on.
The new additions to the Farmcare team will also have the chance to work alongside Farmcare’s Science Manager: the business’ commercial and innovative approach to farming integrates science and research into its daily way of working, both in the field and by working closely with universities and research institutions.

As well as accepting graduate entries, Farmcare’s recruitment drive opens the door to farming enthusiasts across all walks of life and ages, calling on any applicant over the age of eighteen to apply – whether they are a recent university graduate, have worked within the farming business or are new to the world of agriculture, searching for a fresh challenge.
