Speakers including ADAS’s Sacha White, NIABTAG’s John Cussons and independent soil scientist, Professor Jenni Dungait, won’t be walking the field trials of Britain this summer, but they will be live on BASF’s new Real Results Virtual Farm.

Dates are already set for the first four Live Events. On 1 July, John Cussons will discuss what weed challenges to expect this autumn following the tumultuous season, followed by Jenni Dungait on 6 July on the effects of soil health on grass weed management.

An oilseed rape round table will take place on 9 July, including Sacha White, Faye Ritchie and Pete Berry from ADAS, cultivations consultant, Philip Wright and Mike Green and Dr Carol Norris from BASF.

On 21 July, a best practice spray application session will be led by Tom Robinson.

Phillippa Overson, head of Crop Campaign Marketing said: “We usually meet hundreds of farmers on our demo farms over the summer months, so, given the pandemic restrictions, we’ve had to do different, so we’ve gone digital.

“On the farm you can also visit our virtual fungicide and herbicide trials, including a first look at our new black-grass herbicide, Luximo, navigate interactive data and earn BASIS and NRoSO points.”

In the Stewardship and Sustainability zone, there is a host of modules, including BASF‘s interactive AgBalance tool which enables farmers to assess how sustainable their farm practices are, as well as guidance on water stewardship and climate change. BASF’s Mike Green will run sessions on soil health and climate-friendly farming.

Jon Helliwell, Business Development manager, Fungicides UK and Ireland added:

“It’s fair to say that this year has been the season of unbelievables. Usually my colleagues and I would be standing in one of our demonstration sites showcasing, enjoying with you the latest innovation in varieties, fungicides, herbicide inputs and digital platforms. Clearly this year that’s not possible, but we do very much value the discussion we have and the knowledge transfer that takes place.”

The Live Events Schedule includes:

1 July – John Cussons, NIABTAG – What weed challenges to expect this autumn.

6 July – Prof Jenni Dungait – The effects of soil health on grass weed management.

9 July – Oilseed rape roundtable – seven experts debate the crop.

21 July – Tom Robinson –  Best Spraying Practice
