As more oilseed rape AHDB Recommended List trials results for this season come in, Wembley maintains its good performance and heads the 2017 yield rankings with 107% of controls.
“Most growers will already have bought their seed and many are well on with drilling,” notes Theo Labuda, Managing Director of LS Plant Breeding Ltd (LSPB). “These continuing good trials results for Wembley will reassure growers that they made the correct choice for their oilseed rape variety this year. Indeed, the results reflect field performance seen in commercial crops, with many growers pleased with this year’s harvest and repeat ordering as a result.
“This RL trials data also confirms the consistency in gross output and yields that we have seen from Wembley over the seasons – both in our breeder’s trials and in official trials. It now looks well set for its third year of AHDB Recommendation for the East/West region.
“As a more general comment, this season has certainly one where hybrid varieties have outperformed conventional varieties in most trials, and underlined the consistency that hybrids bring to growers.”
